Hooka
I was conceiving of building a hooka today, with many ideas involved. And yes, solely for tobacco purposes. Funny enough, I've done my run with drugs, I'll stick to occasional alcohols and Cigarettes from now on, thanks.
But I was wondering if anyone knew of a metal that didn't really give water a "tang," or at least provides a subtle, warm one. And doesn't react to water or corrosion. I am thinking I may end up just accepting stainless steel and having the outside brass-plated. Or possibly I might choose Nickel. Brass pure brass (though attractive) supposedly causes an aftertaste. Trying to decide on the rest, though. I've examined the build of a hookah and think I may just really be building a "bong." I feel there are a few differing characteristics that make the distinction. Of course, I may just be building something that combines the two.
Actually, I'm researching this idea as I write and it seems this is basically a Chalice Pipe. Huh. Convergent concepts.
Meh. I may save this for a time when I've got a LOT of hours ahead of me; I'll stick to Nat Sherman's for now, though.
Note to self: Pick up a cigarette case. ooh, I should google that, see if I can find a nice steam-punk design...
